What is Admiral? “Well for me it’s life. It is family pride. Founded in 1972 by my grandfather Luigi Dell’Orto the carburetor genius, who would go to the roofs of the Trade Fair during construction to see if the location was right. The pride continued with my mother, who for years held high the colors of the company. With my children joining us, we are now in the fourth generation. The abergo is a gathering place, people come by knowing I’m there. It is a living room for an interview with a VIP, greeting a friend with coffee or lunch. Let it be my kindergarten buddy. or Alberto Tomba, the treatment is always the same: top-quality food, lots of affection, informality at the highest level.” Edward Coffrini’s account of the Orto is a river in flood: Renzo Arbore used to play hide-and-seek with customers, Franco Franchi used to stop by for lunch with his family, and again Franco Califano, Mal, Jerry Calà, Gianni Morandi, Claudio Villa and many others with the magician Forrest, Giorgio Faletti, unleashed merriment in our living rooms. And again Mike Bongiorno, Gianfranco Funari, Niky Lauda, Davide Cassani, Filippo Ganna. The Azzurra Avalanche of Pierino Gross and Gustavo Thoni, on par with the Italian national fencing team, with Vezzali, Trillini and Granbassi, have all frequented the Admiral for long periods as well as absolute sports legends Giacomo Agostini or Eddie Merckx. Cabrini, Pantani, Bettini, Indurain, Adorni, Gimondi… but also a parade of actors and actresses from every era crossed the threshold of our 60 rooms all different from each other and dedicated. Mila Schon, Cavalli, Marras… even fashion has passed this way. But the real treat is Edward’s private collection with more than 6,500 items dedicated to the world’s most famous secret agent.
