Farmacia San Gottardo

Many relics tell a long pharmaceutical history, since 1835.

The Bianchini family has been running the business for three generations.

The oldest document of the pharmacy the Chamber of Commerce is able to trace the existence is dated 1835, in the Camposanto area, behind the Cathedral. The Bianchini family has been riding the business for three generations and there will certainly also be the fourth, led by Massimo, son of the current owner Clara. In 1886, the headquarters moved from the Duomo to Corso San Gottardo, at the corner with via Pavia, where it has served patients for 130 years, trying to combine the tradition of medicine with the natural evolution of the profession. It’s nice to discover, with Clara’s passionate guidance, among the shelves, an ancient scale, display cases full of perfectly preserved bottles of artisan preparations, and ancient volumes such as the “book of poisons”. In front of the counter there is a wonderful, original bronze mortar weighing six kilos, facing the busts of the Fathers of medicine, also carved in bronze. An important recognition for the Bianchini family, also assisted by Clara’s husband, Dr. Elia Laneri, came from the Municipality of Milan which in 2012 awarded the pharmacy with the prestigious Ambrogino d’Oro.
