The aperitif of Milanese intellectuals, an infusion of herbs and juniper berries, a true flavor of tradition, relaunched by Francesco de Luca in 1998.
One of the tradition of the town, loved by many generations of Milanese, born after the mid-nineteenth century, thanks to the initiative of Annunciata Bourné, with a flavor distillery in Oleggio who invented the recipe: an infusion of herbs in a hydroalcoholic solution with addition of a juniper berry distillate. For all it is known as Ginrosa, and its brand still stands out in the heart of the Galleria San Babila, with the historic signs in the typical design that was fashionable a hundred years ago. Francesco De Luca, together with his wife Nicoletta, has “saved” this piece of old Milan, something that has to do with the authentic history of the center, as evidenced by the generations of customers who have always frequented it and who have welcomed with relief was the news that it would not close in 1998. That was the year it was sold by the Marangune family, who had managed it since the end of the Second World War. In all these years Ginrosa has been the favorite aperitif of many intellectuals, politicians and show business people: from Lucio Dalla and Stefano D’Orazio of the Pooh, to Jerry Calà, Alex Britti, Beppe Vessicchio and many others. Before this management there was the Donini family, author of the great revolution that transformed it into a modern bar with a coffee machine and counter for quick service, which is normal today, but which for the early twentieth century was a real novelty. And the “sciure” and the new generations still like it so much.
