Nodo Libri

Knot to tie.

Here is a creative workshop, often “inventing” original publishing models in form and content, trespassing from paper to digital. Since 1980.

NodoLibri does not exist. It is a publishing brand of NodoMedia (since 2013) and, before that, of Nodo (since 1980). It does not exist although it is almost half a century old. A workshop in the true traditional sense because it also refers to the craft sector (to which it belongs) for a conception of “making books” that follows the entire production process: from research to writing, from editing to publishing. Over the decades, NodoLibri has produced about six hundred titles almost all dedicated to the history of the territory: from Como to Lecco, from Brianza to Canton Ticino and from Milan to Valtellina… It has involved dozens of experts in research and writing, in the various subjects, with a specific direction towards architecture, art, people, material culture, food, history. Fabio Cani and Gerardo Monizza, who are the conductors of the “workshop” (but over time there have been other partners and collaborators), have written – jointly or individually – some 70 books, including a monumental edition of Como and its history in four volumes. The publishing house works on research in historical archives and on a vast repertoire of its own documents. It keeps, in fact, more than fifty thousand documents, five hundred thousand photographic images (analog and digital), old prints and postcards, and a library – dedicated to the themes of the territory, art, landscape and photography – of about fifteen thousand volumes and magazines. NodoLibri cultivates a close relationship with readers, cultural associations, institutions, and universities by organizing events and projects such as “Don Ferrante’s Library,” intinerant furniture designed with friend Antonio Citterio and produced by Haute Material.
