A doctor in the kitchen PETRONILLA
The project pays tribute to and enhances the figure of Amalia Moretti Foggia, better known by the pseudonym Petronilla, a pioneer of Italian medicine and culinary popularization. Petronilla was among the first women doctors in Italy and became famous in the harshest years of the twentieth century for her ability to combine medicine, cooking and communication.
The heart of the initiative is a table set in which actress Silvana Filippelli plays Petronilla, bringing to the stage tales and anecdotes related to daily life and showing how women’s creativity and ingenuity enabled them to cope with difficulties and hardships. The audience, seated at the table with Petronilla, will have the opportunity to learn about and comment on some original recipes that are topical along contemporary food lines. In fact, it is thanks to her that the kitchen of reuse, recycling and leftovers was invented, which today represents a fundamental gastronomic plus against all forms of waste.
