Vetrate Artistiche Grassi

Precious transparencies, since 1946.

Large cathedrals, palaces and private homes in Italy and around the world shine with the artistic stained glass windows made in the laboratory in via Mecenate in Milan which produces masterpieces thanks to the skill of the Grassi family.

If you think that “The Pillars of the Earth” is just a fantastic novel from the adventurous pen of Ken Follett, a tour of the Vetreria Grassi is really recommended! You will discover that monumental cathedrals are being built around the world recently, with something made in Italy: the stained glass windows of the Grassi family. Historic shop inaugurated in 1946, after the war, owes its name to Florindo Grassi known as Lind, who founded the stained glass workshop together with the great artists of the time, working in Italy and exporting the much appreciated Made in Italy to the world. His son Alessandro continued the tradition, supported in the workshop by his daughter Barbara and her husband Antonello Floresta, now the owner of the family business. “The bulk of the work is now done abroad” – says Antonello – showing photographs of huge colored glass panels made to adorn the most important churches in the Ivory Coast, Gabon, Kenya and Nigeria. There are seven cathedrals in Singapore and more than twenty in Japan, not to mention the former Royal Palace in Lisbon or the twenty-meter-long window just installed in a shopping center in Taipei.
