On the walls works by Botero and Urano Palma, Battisti, Renato Zero, Teocoli and Abatantuono were born on the stage.
And the tradition continues.
The Restaurant opened in the 1930s, when Luigi and Modesta Arlati decided to abandon their work in the company to start their own business. In 1947 “Luisin” moved to his current address and Mario, the third son, was born. With his artistic temperament, Mario wanted to make the restaurant his first work of art. At the end of the 1960s, he began to take over from his parents, transformed the place from a suburban tavern into a restaurant frequented by the whole artistic-cultural world of the city attracted there by the relaxed atmosphere and the traditional cuisine always prepared with genuine ingredients and recipes to be rediscovered. In 1973 the downstairs becomes the first club in Milan where live music is played: Formula 3, Lucio Battisti, Renato Zero, Loredana Bertè and many others organize explosive jam sessions every night, ending around a nice plate of salami, the michetta, a nice sliver of parmesan. In the management, Mario was succeeded by his son Leopoldo and daughter Giorgia who continue their father’s work with freshness and enthusiasm. The study and research in Milanese and Lombard cuisine become an indispensable premise for Leopoldo and his sister in order to provide an adequate service today, while preserving the warmth of tradition and the flavor of the genuine ingredient.
