Loved by stylists, indispensable for sportsmen, synonymous with speed and safety, the zipper is part of our collective daily life. What if it jams? Mariotti knows how to get it started again with a savoir faire that has been a guarantee of functionality and creative service since 1908.
On Instagram, followers follow him as “the wizard of the zip”, but this is his specialty even in real life, because Daniele Mariotti is capable of repairing any zip coming from all over the world and, just looking at it, he would know how to recognize who was made and in what year. When it is said that the key to the success of a historic workshop lies in its ability to be a niche excellence, we say Mariotti. The Mariotti company was founded in 1908 in Milan and carries out works related to upholstery and repairs in general. In 1961 Giovanni added zippers to the company, becoming the second resale center in Milan. Marzio continues his business becoming wholesaler of zippers in the golden years of Milanese fashion and zip. “Today we are in the fourth generation” says Daniele with pride, flanked by his sister Chiara. “With the advent of imported products there has been a marked deterioration in the quality of clothing both in materials and in accessories such as the zip. So we decided to be the only ones to answer a concrete problem: zips break easily and nobody can fix them “. Daniele, with a degree in management engineering, has been at the helm of the family business since 2003, and is now a point of reference for all Milanese customers, but also for numerous foreign brands that send him the garments to be repaired. In 2010 Mariotti with his sister Chiara also began to provide tailoring service to satisfy any need of his customers. Among the works he is most proud of is the gigantic carpet that covered the lawn of the stadiums where the Champions League final was played in recent years. Grounding and the subsequent, very rapid disappearance of the carpet is made possible by a network of zippers hundreds of meters long, a masterpiece of avant-garde craftsmanship. The last frontier is the world of surgery, where we are looking for a zipper to replace the stitches in the case of prostheses.
