Ugo Cilento with his haute couture and neckwear chooses the premises of the Antica Spezieria to bring his Neapolitan style to Milan.
Cilento 1780, historic Neapolitan atelier expressing Italian sartorial excellence arrives in Milan in the prestigious premises of the Antica Farmacia di Brera after a long and passionate search for a location that could welcome such an ancient company with a great tradition. Ugo Cilento represents the eighth generation of a family with deep roots in the beating heart of Naples proud of its traditions, an atmosphere that lives on in the Milanese headquarters near the Brera Academy. Cilento wanted to enhance the historical elements in the design and in the renovation of the rooms that housed the apothecary of Brera 1591 first, and then the illustrious pharmacy founded by Carlo Erba in 1837. Thus, alongside the memorabilia of the Pharmacy, we can see original furnishings and antiques owned of the historic Atelier, a magical setting for the iconic garments of Cilento: from ties to foulards, from scarves to pullovers, from shoes to fabrics for suits, from shirts to garments made to measure and accessories for men and women. Cilento ties – all seven folds and made rigorously handmade in fine silk – are recognized all over the world as absolute excellence of style, look and elegance. There are many institutions and Heads of State who appreciate them, such as the President Sergio Mattarella who wrote a letter of compliments in which he praises the very high manufacturing and the Neapolitan style of the “Italia” tie, a symbol of strength and unity, made with the embroidery of the Italian flag on the background dark blue, the only one in the world with an off-centre embroidery.

È ormai un appuntamento consolidato quello nell’atelier milanese del marchio storico napoletano.
Prediletto da chi ama la moda, conquista chi è in cerca di ricette tradizionali e provocazioni olfattive. Dal 1780.
From the Neapolitan Gulf to Milan’s bohemian quarter: Ugo Cilento brings his haute tailoring and tie-making to the historic rooms of the Antica Spezieria di Brera, introducing his unmistakable Neapolitan style to the city. Cilento 1780, the historic Campanian atelier and a benchmark of Italian sartorial excellence, has found in the prestigious premises of the Antica Spezieria di Brera the perfect setting to express its heritage. Ugo Cilento – eighth generation of a family deeply rooted in the beating heart of Naples – has chosen to honor both past and present by carefully restoring a unique space that once housed the Jesuit-founded Spezieria of 1591 and later Carlo Erba’s celebrated pharmacy in 1837. Today, this history-rich atmosphere is reimagined through a refined dialogue between tailoring and tradition. Alongside relics of the old pharmacy stand original furnishings and antique objects from the historic Atelier, forming a distinctive backdrop for the Maison Cilento’s iconic creations: ties and foulards, scarves and knitwear, shoes, and bespoke fabrics for suits and shirts. Its hand-crafted seven.fold silk ties – made entirely by hand from the finest silks – are internationally recognized as a hallmark of elegance and style. This legacy is paired with another major initiative by the Maison: the revival of the Antica Spezieria di Brera as a historic brand, which Ugo Cilento has committed to preserving and enhancing. The famed Pillole di Brera, first created in 1699, return today as artisanal candies in china bark, mint, and licorice. Ancient elixirs, drawn from original Jesuit recipes, include classic formulas such as China Elixir, alongside new interpretations inspired by the Brera gardens – Mint, Rosehip, Artichoke, and Rhubarb. Completing the brand’s renaissance is a line of ambient fragrances – Legni e Fiori, Tabacco Rosso, Tabacco Bianco, and Giardino – evoking the timeless spirit of historic apothecaries, complemented by exclusive textile accessories, including specially designed ties and foulards. The project unfolds as a journey between past and present, a celebration of Italian history that continues to inspire the future, strengthening the bond between Naples and Milan – between style, excellence, and tradition.
