Ettore Angelino inaugurates the first workshop exactly a century ago, and discovers the magical “ceratina” for the floors destined to a great success.
One hundred candles are extinguished this year from the shop founded by Ettore Angelino, one of the first licensed in history, personal chaffeur of King Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Margherita. In 1919 Ettore opened a small wax and furniture workshop, and he won very important awards. One of his best products, of which he immediately becomes a producer of excellence, is a particular type of beeswax for floors that he calls “ceratina”. His wife Ennia, to help him with the sale, decides to open a shop in Santa Maria Segreta, leaving the bicycle company where he worked. The workshop takes its name from Ceratina and it sells wax in all its forms to all the best families in Milan since 1935. The second generation arrives in 1957 when Oreste, son of Ennia and Ettore, takes over his father’s laboratory and decides to produce his own candles, while his wife Vanda takes over the sale in the store. Milan grows and Ceratina also grows, moving to its current location in via Meravigli in 1966, occupying a brand new building near the new metro stop. In 1977, his daughter Patrizia takes over, forty years of glorious career as a workshop, today with her daughter Daniela, while her nephew Massimiliano takes over the management of the candle workshop.
