Here you can eat the most famous marrons glacés on the square Milanese. Luchino Visconti, a loyal customer, came to taste his beloved marzipan nuts all the times he passed through Milan. And it was here, that between a pasta candied fruit and a chestnut, he discovered the “icing on the cake” of the cinema of him, Lucia Bosè, who served him behind the counter. In 1942, during the bombings that destroyed the shop founded in 1911, the company received the patent of suppliers of the Royal House of Savoy.
From the rubble the son Ferruccio (successor of the founder Giovanni) managed to save the wooden counter and the windows, still today present in the office. In 1945 the laboratory of Vannucci and the second store in Via Victor Hugo 2. The two shops are still present and only through they are marketed the Giovanni Galli products.
In addition to chestnuts and candied fruit, a specialty absolutely not to be missed are the violets and roses candied. The latest generation machinery coexists with the historical ones in a union that aims to guarantee the maximum quality in the company that today is managed by sons of Ferruccio, Giovanni and Edoardo.
