Ristorante Galleria

Dedicated to Scala.

Temple of Milanese cuisine. Promotes the culture of opera with an award to the protagonists of Piermarini. Since 1968.

One of the symbolic meeting places between Milan and La Scala, overlooking the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Ristorante Galleria has accompanied life at the Piermarini Theatre since its opening in 1968, welcoming – especially after performances – artists, conductors, musicians, and opera lovers. More than a restaurant, it is a space of exchange, memory, and continuity, where the theatrical experience continues in an informal setting.
From this natural, daily relationship with La Scala came the Premio Galleria in 2024, established by the Galli family to honor artists who, during the Season, have made a significant contribution to the Theatre’s prestige and vitality. The award reflects the restaurant’s history and its discreet yet constant role in Milan’s cultural life. The honors are decided by a governing board chaired by Galli himself, together with an expert jury comprising leading musicologists and critics, devoted opera lovers, specialists, and connoisseurs of the lyric world. Among the recipients, one name above all: Music Director Riccardo Chailly.
Since 2008, Galleria has also been home to the “Salotto di Milano” association, chaired by Rosanna Galli, who in the same year was awarded the Rosa Camuna Prize “for her entrepreneurial dynamism and the dedication with which she led the restoration and relaunch of the Café-Restaurant, which – thanks to her innovative management – has become a symbol and an important point of reference for the city, helping to restore the historic Galleria’s Ottagono to its role as a cultural, social, tourist, and commercial hub.”
