JMonteiro

Step by step towards the red carpet

Among the houses on the Naviglio, the high fashion atelier that dresses top models and influencers from all over the world. Without forgetting the salvation of the planet with a collection of accessories dedicated to the Amazzonia.

In the “burg dè furmagiatt”, the village of cheese makers between the Naviglio Pavese and Corso San Gottardo, the clothes are born for the night of the Hollywood Oscars. Jenny Monteiro sews them one by one. Third generation of tailors, Jenny grew up in Brazil having fun and playing with fabrics in the family workshop specialized in wedding dresses.
Day after day she lives the tradition of tailoring as her passion. She observes every woman who enters the atelier with her uniqueness and creates design ideas and exclusive details for the day she has always dreamed of. And she makes a promise to her mother: to make the Monteiro surname great in Italy, the country that symbolizes fashion. Twenty-four years ago she moved to Milan, where she initially collaborated with tailoring workshops and later with Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. Sartoria Brancato plays an important role in her journey: here, amidst the voluminous tulle of the stage dresses, she collaborates in the creations for the most famous stages in the world, such as that of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, also inspired by the lively international environments of the Istituto Marangoni and the Istituto Secoli in Milan which she attended for several years. In 2012 she decided to found her own brand, JMonteiro Milano, with Red Carpet dresses and Pret-à-Porter collections proposed during Milan Fashion Week, the Venice International Film Festival and published in Vogue, Elle, L‘Officiel and Vanity Fair. “Ten yeras ago I’ve opened my atelier in Italy, but I was born in the Amazonia region – says Jenny – I had a project in mind for some time to pay homage to my roots.” The Amazonia forest is one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet and its survival depends on its inhabitants. The peoples of the forest are its guardians and use the land without harming the plants and animals that live there. Amazônia Onlus supports the natives of Amazonia in the fight against deforestation and for the conservation of the tropical forest and its biodiversity. For them I have designed all made-in-Italy scarves and t-shirts with up to 100% natural fabrics inspired by the fuchsia flowers of the Jambo tree, the seductive leaves of the breadfruit tree, and the macaw, the bird symbol of Amazonia”.
