The thick white hair of Giorgio Strehler, but also the hairstyles of many Milanese VIPs are made by Benito in the past years and now by Salvatore, hairdressers in Via Rovello.
If you remember some photographs of the great director Giorgio Strehler, with his splendid white hair, you should know that since he founded the Piccolo Teatro, his trusted hairdresser has been Benito, with the shop right in front of the entrance of the theater, in via Rovello. The barber shop had already existed for many years, when the very young Benito Falconieri had arrived there as a worker from Nardò, in the province of Lecce. When the first owner Riccardo Tanis retired, Benito had the great opportunity to take over the management. The sign changes, takes his name and begins an extraordinary story, which is now an excellence in Milan. Someone calls it “the hairdresser of the powerful”. In the eighties Salvatore comes from his coutry in Salento, where he was working in a barber shop since he was a child. He meets Benito’s daughter, Patrizia, also a hairdresser, and falls in love. Since 1997 they have been husband and wife, as well as colleagues in this “historic but not old” workshop, as they like to say. They cut hair to people belonging to the world of entertainment, finance, university, students and professors, men and women, with a new and creative style, based on the academic tradition.
